Back from Paris

Got up for lots of French breakfast at 7am this morning after getting to sleep about 2am and having a restless night. Felt better after eating as had not eaten anything since 12pm the day before. Gavin and I slowly got the metro then train back to the airport and sat there feeling very tired and awful.

Gavin found Roger Taylor dressed up as a Panda in the airport:

Gavin meets Roger Taylor the panda

Met some Queen fans on the bus over to the plane and they had really enjoyed the gig and thought we were mad for going to so many. Turned out they had been on the same plane over to Paris. Flight was not too bad apart from Gavin falling asleep leaving me to sit there with a newspaper over my head when we took off. When we landed, we said bye to the Queen fans and said we would see them in Cardiff on the 7th May!

Left Gavin at the airport and drove home then just collapsed and surfed the internet all afternoon! We have decided that drinking too much and concerts don’t mix.

Got up at 4am and flet awful!! I was so hungover on the flight that I wasn’t scared at all even though it was a horrible small plane. We arrived in Paris at 9am and got to train to Gare de Nord then the metro to Port du pantin- walked around for 15 mins looking for the hotel which we finally found was quite near the metro stop overlooking the canal- nice views. Gavin and I slept for an hour then ate our packed lunches and went to find the Zenith. Queued from 1pm (same as Brixton) and there were more people in the queue compared to Brixton! Just wanna say hi and thanks to everyone we met in the queue (Zak, Vern, Julie, the american girl and her husband and the French people- sorry for our awful French!!) who made the time go by quickly and also hi to beansontoast who we met afterwards!! See you all again soon! Apologies for our awful French- Gavin read ‘Romantic’ phrases out the phrase book and even got the French people telling ‘Old man Roger’ jokes!! LOL! Japanese Freddie turned up and we all sang with him then he was interviewed for the TV. At 6pm it started to rain heavily and we had an hour of that before we were let into the venue. I went in with my camera down my trousers and my flip flops had got all wet so had to take them off as I couldn run. We made it to one door waiting to go in when suddenly everyone run to another door which we did and Gavin was at the front. Someone shouted that the other doors had opened so the security guard opened ours and about 20 people got through (including us!) and we all filled the right hand side of the stage and round the front of the catwalk- we were front middle catwalk!!! After a few mins a security guard tried to send us all back out again and we pretending we couldn’t understand him- had to move eventually but only made it a meter before someone started shouting and we ran back and got the same spot! It was another 5 mins before everyone else came in! What a mess!!

The set list was:

Reachin Out
Tie Your Mother Down
Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love
I Want To Break Free (again mostly sung by the crowd)
Fat Bottomed Girls
Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Paul on acoustic guitar)
Seagull (Roger on Bongos again- right in front of me on the sub stage wearing white pin stripe trousers- this man is a sex god!!!!!!!!)
‘39 (Brian -Mis francais est la meme que before. C’est un peu crap”)
Love Of My Life
Hammer To Fall

Brian

A Little Bit Of Love
I’m In Love With My Car (Roger on vocals + drums- messed up the words again!! Bless him!)
Guitar Solo feat.Brighton Rock
Last Horizon
These Are The Days Of Our Lives (Roger doing the fantastic ‘no change’ pointing at Brian’s hair again and a brilliant ‘Oh yeah’ at the end)

Roger

Radio Ga Ga
I Want It All (Paul on vocals this time- it rocked again!!!!!!!!!!!!! Massive surger forward from the crowd!)
A Kind Of Magic
Feel Like Making Love
Bohemian Rhapsody (Massice surge forward from t he crowd!)

Paul, Roger and Brian

————-
The Show Must Go On
All Right Now (Paul read out a banner saying ‘Roger, your angel is here’ then starting singing it in the song!LOL!)

Paul and Brian

We Will Rock You (Extra little bit of drumming at one point during the song- BRILLIANT!!!)
We Are The Champions

Paul and Roger

God Save The Queen (Roger threw the drumsticks in the air but didn’t quite manage to catch them and they went flying towards the drumkits and he hoped nobody saw but Paul was laughing at him which made Roger laugh!)

The show was amazing- crowd were better than at Brixton and the band were more relexed. Paul spoke to me after I said ‘Hi Paul’ when he walked down the catwalk. Roger was looking as sexy as ever with white pin stripe trousers on- I nearly died!! We decided not to wait for the band afterwards although Brian did come out and sign stuff apparently. Went for a drink with two people from the queen forums then went to bed about 1.30am. I have never been so tired, hngry and in need of the toilet in life!! :)

Got up at 11 and had an asthma check at the doctors. Got back and Gavin was still asleep so I went to sort out my photos on the computer. Gavin finally got up about 1.30 and we had some crumpets and fried egg sandwiches then started drinking. Dan came home and we got some pizza- managed to drink most of a litre of vodka between us! Decided that we have to enter the Queen convention talent competition doing ‘Is this the way to Amerillo’!! LOL! Bed by midnight and felt so tired- have to get up at 4am tomorrow!!

Brixton!!!!

Got up 7.30 and managed to get ready in 50 mins with some help from Dan packing the car and stuff for me! Drove to Bristol in the very thicvk fog panicing that Gavins flight might be delayed and we would never make it to Brixton. Picked up Becky and Rosie followed by Cat and managed to get to the airport far too early so went and sat in a layby until Gavin phoned! His flight from Glasgow actually got in early so off we went to London!

Had to put up with a series of ‘Roger is an old man’ jokes from Gavin, Becky., Cat andRosie all the way! LOL! Luckily Gavin went to sleep for a bit and shut up!! He had come straight from a night shift so was very tired!

Made it to Brixton by 1 and parked in a very dodgy area with free parking and walked to the Academy. By 1.30 when we arrived there were only about 20 people in front of us- thought there would be more of a queue! We all ate our packed lunches- LOL! Trina and Jenny arrived about 2 to join us in the queue and the Old man Roger jokes were still going! I danced to ‘Is this the way to Amerillo’ on my iPod and got some very odd looks. Paul Rodgers arrived and we didn’t see him so Trina and I decided to go down and wait by the back door to see if we could see Roger arrive. Brian arrived first and I shouted good luck Brian as he drove past me and he stuck his thumb up at me!! As he was getting out of the car, he was waving to us all! Next to arrive was Jamie Moses then ROGER!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH! Looked in the car as it drove past and couldn’t see anyone in it so turned round to talk to Trina then she spotted Roger getting out of the car- he rushed in but did give us a quick wave! He was dressed in a black hat and coat so no wonder we couldn’t see him through the tinted windows of the car!

More queuing- boredom! Managed to get in and buy a t-shirt- Red with the new logo on for £20! Finally got let in at 7pm and because of the bag check and the way they split the queue in two and let the other queue in slightly before us, we only got in the secnd row which was fine as I could still hold on to the barrier and I could easily see over Katherine and her husband in front of us! We had found out from the nice bouncer outside that Queen were due to come on at 8.45 so we had to stand waiting in the boiling hot crowd waiting for nearly 2 hours. My legs were hurting so much!!! The lights changed a bit at 8.20 and some quiet music came on- everyone went mad but it turned out to be ‘Track 13′ from the Made in Heaven album which lasts for 22 minutes. Not sure if that went down very well- maybe a shorter version of it would be a good idea- there was lots of shouting from the crowd saying ‘get on with it’!!! So at 8.45 they were ready to go and all we got was Eminen- Lose yourself- turns out this is the song they were using the start the show!! LOL! Paul appeared from behind the curtain and sang a small bit of Reaching out which is an old charity single from 1991 which Paul and Brian played on, then Brian appears and Tie your mother down starting rocking- AHHHHHHHHH ROGER!!!!!

The set list was:

Reaching Out (Paul Rodgers solo)
Tie Your Mother Down
Little Bit Of Love
I Want To Break Free (mostly sung by the crowd!!!!)
Fat Bottomed Girls- brilliant- PR: Are there any fat bottomed girls here tonight?
Crazy Little Thing Called Love- Paul on the guitar like Freddie used to do!
—————
Seagull (Paul Rodgers - acoustic guitar then half way through Roger walks down and starts playing the bongos- this was the most amazing thing I have ever seen and also died screaming!!)
‘39 (Brian May vocals/acoustic)
Love Of My Life (BM vocals/acoustic- empty stool next to him - maybe coz Freddie and him used to do this together sitting on stools at the front)
Hammer To Fall (Slow version to start with Brian singing then Paul comes back on stage and rocks to the fast version)
—————
Guitar Solo- Brian stands on a high bit at the back of the stage in front of a big video screen with fast moving images of London on which goes past WWRY and ends up on the roof of Buckingham Palace)
Last Horizon (Fantastic blue lighst!!)
These are the day of our lives (Roger comes down the front in the sexy white shirt with the symbol on the back and sings- When singing the ‘No chance’ bit, he points at Brian’s hair!! LOL)
Radio Ga Ga (Roger still down the front sings the first two verses with drums on backing track then Paul sings last verse as Roger goes back to drum)
Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love
I’m In Love With My Car (Roger singing from the drums- messes up some of the words!)
I Want It All (Brian sings- This was the best song of the night- AMAZING- it rocked!!!)
A Kind Of Magic- sung by Paul- rainbow lights- cool!
Bohemian Rhapsody (Freddie on the video screen singing- Paul sang rock bit at the end- I didn’t even notice as I was head banging so much!)
The Show Must Go On
—————
Feel Like Makin’ Love
All Right Now (Brilliant!)
—————
We Will Rock You (Paul looked at the words every 2 seconds to make sure he got this one right!!)
We Are The Champions
God save the Queen

Roger and his drumsticks

Amazing show! After the show, we went round the back and ater waiting for about an hour, Roger came out. I was on the phone to my boyfriend Dan and he heard the following:

Gavin: Oh my god, there’s Roger
Sarah: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Roger
Sarah: Roger, I love you
Sarah : Brilliant show Roger
Sarah: See you in Paris
Beep beep beep (hanging up phone)

Roger looked great after the show and waved to me!! Yay!!! Worth waiting for. I got on the right side so I could be right next to him when the car drove past and he looked me right in the eyes and I waved!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Rang Dan back to explain what happened to me but I think he had guessed! LOL! Decided we didn’t want to wait for Brian (apparently he came out and signed stuff at the end) and took a foriegn girl who was on her own and didn’t speak good English to the tube to make sure she didn’t miss the last tube and we went back to the car. By this time it was about 1am. Managed to get a bit lost in London- Gavin was asleep all the way from Camberwell to Bristol! I was singing all the way home to keep awake and my throat was hurting so much. Also, the made sure the car was freezing to keep me awake! Dropped Cat off then Becky and Rosie. Gavin fell asleep again and I mumbled the words to Queen songs all the way back to Chippenham as I couldn’t sing anymore but needed to stay awake!

Made it home and in bed by 4am!!! :) What an amazing night!

Last minute exercise

My last minute exercise of a 6 mile cycle ride and 50 situps is not going to have any effect on my figure at this late stage but did it anyway. Ate so much chocolate I feel sick!

Ahhhhhhh! 24 hours to go (or something like that!)

Tomorrow we will have just got to Brixton to stand in the queue with our packed lunches! LOL! It doesn’t seem real yet apart from the fact I have totally overspent this month and still have to wait til Thursday for payday!!

Anyway, I’m sure Brixton is going to be great and the tour is worth all the money I’ve spent!! I can’t wait!

Things to do today:

Sort out stuff ready for Paris on Wednesday
Maked packed lunches for me and Gavin tomorrow
Decide what to wear tomorrow and get Dan to do the ironing
Tidy the house
Decide which bag to take with me
Pack the camera
Don’t forget the tickets!
Pack something for them to sign (just in case!)

Preparation for the tour

AHHHHHH )(*^%$*(*&^%$^*()_(

3 days to go!!!!!

My lists of things to prepare for the tour seems to be being crossed off quickly!! Today Dan and I went to Bath shopping- turned out to be a boiling hot day- is it summer already?! Anyway, I bought a pair of knee high boots from www.duoboots.com which I would totally recommend to anyone who has calves that are too small or large to fit into all those knee high boots in normal shops!! Also bought a new top, some 3/4 length jeans, sunglasses and a travel toothbrush!

Diet is not going well so I am going to try again after Paris then I have a month before the main tour!

Thursday 24.03.05

Woohoo! Last day at work until 4 April

Today is Maundy Thursday so us Civil Servants get half a day off for it. Alot of people took the day off totally so it was very quiet all morning (I had an awful hangover so this was no bad thing). Got even worse after lunch when there was about 2 people sitting in the wing where I sit so I listened to Queen on my iPod!! I am taking my half day off next tuesday instead(and I have the rest of the week off to see QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!) . Managed to leave before 4 and the roads were getting busy with all the holiday traffic. Can’t wait to have a week off- Brixton and Paris here we come!
