Hyde Park Day 2
Had to creep around the park in case we got arrested but finally found the gold circle entrance and pitched up there in our sleeping bags! We were, of course, first in the queue- it was 3am!!!!!!!! There were about 10 separate gates so we all had one each then spread out across the rest! I managed to fall asleep and it was still warm!!

Woke up around 4 when someone else actually arrived and suddenly it was FREEZING. Cat, Becky, Rosie, Jen and Trina arrived at about 5.15am- Cat was shouting to wake us all up! I stayed in my sleeping bag for the nest few hours. Vern and Julie arrived about 6.30am.

It was great having the gang together again! Susan and Pam turned up around 10am with food!! Yay! James managed to rip his trousers so had to get his friends to bring a spare pair but in the mean time, he had to try and tie up the hole as it was in a rather unfortunate place!!
It was another boiling hot day and I hardly moved from my spot all day. Doors were due to open at 3 but this didn’t happen. They let us in part way but we had to stop and wait there for ages!! I think we had all started to go a bit mental from the heat and I shouted out an old Dorset phrase from my school ‘I got a skirt, but I ain’t got no knickers’- I got a few strange looks!! We spent ages chatting to the security guard who thought we were mental for queuing from 3am. He liked some R’n’b music which we took the piss out of! I had a last minute panic that I had too much stuff in my pockets so binned a load of stuff (I had already thrown away the sleeping bag and umbrella!).
At just after 4 the gates finally opened and I had all my stuff out of my pockets so I didn’t get searched, they just patted down my shorts and let me through. My ticket took a while to scan but then I was through and I could see Alessia and Jamie in front but no one else. We had to power walk and I managed to catch up with them and was about a second behind when we reached the barrier- we stood in the front left hand corner again!
Peter Kay was on stage just finishing his sound check so we called up ‘Hi Peter’ and he said hello!!! We spread out and eventually all of our group made it and we took up most of the left hand side of the catwalk! Met the girl I was standing next to in Birmingham! Once we had got our space, we could wander off so fairy and I went off to the toilet. Bumped into loads of people we knew on the way! Jamie managed to fall asleep and we all tried to stay sitting down for as long as possible! Some random stood up then everyone else around us did but it was still at least an hour before the show started so I just stayed sitting down - queuing from 3am is not good!
Peter Kay finally appeared on stage and filmed the crowd including some close up shots of us! You can see them on the bootleg DVD! He was ok and was followed by Razorlight who were ok I suppose although the lead singer had very low trousers!! Bit more of Peter Kay then finally Queen!!!
It was still light when the show started so we got loads of interaction with the guys! We had to throw condoms at Roger as he was walking back up the catwalk and he laughed and said ‘No you keep them!’ Brian sat down slightly too long after ‘Love of my life’ and we just knew something was going to happen! Brian told us they were going to do something special and the noise all around us was amazing. We were so totally shocked and I was shaking! They sang Imagine, all taking a verse each and walking past us to get down to the end of the catwalk. Paul and Roger had to shhh the crowd as they walked past. The atmosphere was electric! It was amazing to watch, with the sun setting in the background and 60,000 people! Alessia, Jamie and I were all crying and shaking! I don’t think I heard any of Hammer to fall as I was in such a daze!
At one point, we were doing the ‘we’re not worthy’ arms to Brian and he did it back. I gave him the thumbs up and he gave me a massive grin back!
Paul spotted Gavin (as usual) and reached out and touched his hand!!! He never fails! Paul also wished Andrew ‘happy birthday’ after spotting his banner!!!
When Brian was on the catwalk playing We Will Rock You, he had his back to us for ages and we were all cheering then he turns round and grins with a ‘Yes, I know are you there. You’re great!’ type grin!!
The catwalk was really high so we couldn’t see our friends on the other side with was disappointing but I’m glad we stood nearer the front as the gap between the stage and the barrier was big so we could see the stage better and the high catwalk in Lisbon put me off!

After the show was all a bit manic and Jamie ran off to queue for the Harry Potter book. We lost some people, other people had to get trains and the rest of us headed back to the St Giles. Marble Arch was closed so we walked down to Bond Street- also closed. SO we decided we might as well walk the rest of the way to Tottenham Court Road. Stopped in the doorway of H&M at one point to wait for Alessia to catch us up and some random took a pic of us! By the time I got to Oxford Circus, I could hardly move. My whole body ached and I hadn’t really slept for 24 hours. Someone had to push me along for a bit and we got to Hugo’s. Collapsed in a chair and someone brought me wine but it all got too much and I feel asleep at the table!
