Breakthru 2006
The Official North American Queen Convention
August 11-13, 2006
The Crowne Plaza Cleveland City Centre, Cleveland, Ohio

Breakthru 2006, the Official North American Queen Convention invites you to join us for A Night At The Opera. This year’s convention celebrates the 30th anniversary of Queen’s groundbreaking album. Breakthru is the largest official fan gathering outside of the UK, and the weekend of non-stop revelry kicks off Friday afternoon, goes until Sunday, and is shaping up to be another wild and fun weekend of nothing but Queen. Activities for registered guests include:

§ “A Night At The Opera” Fancy Dress Ball. Take your costume inspiration from the legendary Queen album. The album cover alone provides a plethora of costume ideas, while the songs inside provide boundless inspiration. Use your imagination and dress to impress and have a great time. Black nail polish optional.

§ Screening of “The Making of ‘A Night At The Opera’” . . . Queen + Paul Rodgers live performances on video, as well as other terrific videos, some of which are uncirculated.

§ Auction: Cool stuff is going on the block. Place your bid before the hammer falls.

§ Raffle: More chances to take home some cool stuff. You might be a winner!

§ Charity: In honor of our friend, longtime Queen fan, and conventioneer, Ann Christe, a Queen fan loved by all; after expenses, all proceeds from this year’s Breakthru auction will go to the American Hospice Foundation.

§ Full-contact Queen trivia contest

§ Swap meet! Who knows what gems might be lurking here.

§ Hotel-room door decorating contest (rules apply and will be available soon via the web site.)

§ 2005-2006 Queen + Paul Rodgers Tour fan photo show (call for photos and rules to come soon—will be posted on website. You must be a registered conventioneer to submit photos.)

§ Queen Idol: Are you a budding Elliot, Taylor, Katharine, William Hung, or, heaven help us, Kellie Pickler? Get in the shower and start working on your “day-os” and “ay-os,” and prepare your best Queen karaoke performance. Or perhaps you have a discerning ear and might be better as a judge. We’ll be on the lookout for our own Ryan, Randy, Paula, and Simon for this all-for-fun karaoke experience.

§ Exclusive limited edition Breakthru t-shirt

§ And MORE! Stay tuned for additional announcements and activities . . . surprises are in store!

Deadline for early registration has been extended to Saturday, May 28. Get your registration in before midnight and receive an early registration gift—you know you want it. Registration details at: www.queenbreakthru.com

Conventioneers are coming from all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, and additional registrations arrive daily.

Fan club Freddie party on 9th September!

From www.queenworld.com:

Our original plans for a Freddie party didn’t quite work as planned, we had less response than we needed to go ahead. BUT, we cannot let Freddie’s 60th pass without celebration, and so we have found a great venue called THE SHED, which is in Brierley Hill, West Midlands (just outside Birmingham).

The party will begin at 2pm in the afternoon on Saturday 9th September, and we will show videos, play Freddies music, have mime and fancy dress, possibly karaoke too. We also have two live bands - Queen Rocks to kick off the evening, and then Flash Harry, with a special “Freddie” show.

We will finish at 10.30pm. There is a licenced bar in the venue, and another bar and restaurant upstairs. Tickets are £15 for MEMBERS and £20 for NON members, cheques payable to the Queen Fan Club.

We are going to have such a brilliant time to celebrate Freddie’s 60th - so DO join us! There will now be TWO live bands, Queen Rocks for openers and then Flash Harry, double treats! I’ll be posting details of accomodation nearby soon, and there is a possibility that we may have a shuttle bus from teh railway station to the party and back.. it is being discussed! But ALL details will be sent to you with your tickets, so don’t forget the SAE!

Please note that the NEW fan club address (arrggh a dreaded PO box!)is:

The Queen Fan Club
P.O.Box 141
West Horsley
Leatherhead
Surrey
KT24 9AJ

But ALL post sent to the old address will automatically be re-directed daily to the new address for a whole year.

We also have a new phone number (and yes, I WILL switch it off at weekends!) which is 01483 218995. There is no answering machine as yet, I have to get a new one!
